As World Aids Day kicked off globally on December 1 lighting up 80 iconic landmarks across 13 countries, David Atkins Enterprises (DAE) was engaged by the federal and state governments to take Australia ahead of the world on November 30th, by turning the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge red for two days.
“Having just returned to Australia after six years producing some of the largest live events of the decade, we were honoured to have been asked to execute the Light Up on behalf of the Premier of New South Wales and the Prime Minister of Australia,” said David Atkins, CEO, DAE. The event was initiated by Pacific Friends of the Global Fund and RED, and was attended by The Hon. Kristina Keneally, Premier of New South Wales; The Hon. Julia Gillard, Prime Minister of Australia; Bono, who was touring Australia with U2; and Wendy McCarthy, Chair of Pacific Friends of the Global Fund.
While DAE continues to focus on its expansion in the international events arena, the company has consolidated and expanded its base of operations in Australia to meet the growing need for live event production within its home territory. “With our first Australian event in many years behind us, we are excited for the possibilities that the Australian events industry presents. Both at home and jameshallison casino abroad, Australians are producing world class events and raising the bar even higher,” said Atkins.
Increasing demand for DAE”s elite creative services led to rapid expansion of its presence into Asia, Europe and North America earlier this year, with new offices established in Hong Kong, London and Vancouver. Sydney remains the global headquarters of DAE.
This has been a banner year for DAE, having created and produced the largest live events of 2010: the Opening, Closing and Victory Ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games and the Opening Ceremony of World Expo 2010 Shanghai China. Fresh on the heels of these successes, DAE”s work on these projects collectively earned three Emmy Awards, a Best Export Award, as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award for founder and CEO David Atkins.
